Sanitising sexuality with the alphabet, and plus signs
June is the annual alphabet and math month+++ (“Pride”)
LGBTQIA+-=%×÷+4√a∠≅|x-y|π≡≜∝⌊x⌋∑∑γA⊗BP(a ≤ x ≤ b)=∫f(x)dx+++TLMNOP+++
June is the annual month for the repetitive recitation of the alphabet in its various forms with math symbols, often with plus signs at the end of the letters.
People at microphones will be slurring over and stumbling over all those fucking letters, plus, plus, plus, all during June, as they usually do. It’s the way to sanitise sexuality without using the word gay or queer, plus, plus, plus.
All of those fucking letters are starting to look like a bar code that a cashier needs to scan.
I think they’re going to need an additional alphabet system at some point because they will have run out of letters and symbols.
Rather than saying one word: gay or queer. Take your pick. That would be the intelligent thing to do.
What about this one?: GLBTQQIAPTS. Well at least the G is first as it should be and not disappeared entirely — and what idiots moved the L to first place; was that self-entitled and self-absorbed lesbians? — since gay guys were the dominant group and did most of the work by the thousands in the Gay and Lesbian Rights’ Movement. Again, the T should not be part of it. Trans should be their own thing or part of the straight group since some/many trans end up living heterosexual lives with kids.
I’ve been writing about this for years, not that I’ve had any illusions that anything would change per my suggestions.
Even the “Pride” thing doesn’t have the word gay or queer attached to it. It’s just called “Pride.”
San Francisco’s event is called “San Francisco Pride” which sounds like an event for residents to celebrate their pride in the City & County of San Francisco.
As I ask each year: Why is anyone proud of their sexuality regardless of what it is? One’s sexuality is a matter of fact because no one chooses their sexuality. Therefore, why would anyone be proud of their sexuality? Insanity. It’s no different than having brown eyes or black hair. One doesn’t choose eye or hair colour. And we don’t have an entire month and special weekend for Pride for people with brown eyes. I’ve never heard a straight guy or girl say that they’re “proud to be straight.” Proud and Pride are the wrong words. Both words were supposedly chosen by the busy-body corporatists who didn’t think things through very well, as usual with corporatists.
No one (or very few) will use the original words — gay and lesbian — used at the beginning of the Gay Rights Movement.
From my experience, most lesbians are fine with being called gay. Some lesbians refer to themselves as gay.
So what word should be used: Freedom.
Queer Freedom Day, as in freedom from discrimination, hate and harassment because of one’s queer sexuality. But I suspect the word “freedom” was too rad for the conservative corporatists. So they went with the sanitised “Pride” rubbish.
But again, Pride and proud of one’s sexuality — since no one chose their sexuality — are clearly the wrong words.
Most people will not agree with this article because most people — including most queers — have been brainwashed with that “Pride” nonsense and they have accepted that blindly.
But the “Pride” weekend has become a weekend for partying and getting drunk — even the straights show up to party and get drunk — as well as a weekend for having anonymous (bareback?) sex for some to see how many loads they can take for/in the name of “Pride.”
Some queers say, “We queers are proud of our accomplishments.” Okay. And so are many other people proud of what they’ve accomplished, but they don’t have an entire month and a special “Pride” weekend to celebrate their accomplishments.
I used to hear queer guys ask other guys at the gym: “Are you ready for pride?” I thought to myself: How is one supposed to answer that? What does the question mean? What are they implying? How does one “get ready” for Pride? Or do they really mean: Are you ready to get drunk and have anonymous sex?
I remember when one local publication a few years ago on the Friday night of “Pride” weekend sent their queer reporter out to check out the scene. He came back and wrote: “All the bars are packed this Friday night before ‘Pride’.” Ah, so it’s really about bars being packed and queers getting drunk? That’s the way it seemed from what he wrote. That’s something to have “pride” in? So that’s what “pride” has been reduced to: Partying.
Insanity.*
One of the queer “Democratic” clubs in San Francisco — who doesn’t use the words gay or queer, although they used to — has flyers out. In one place on the flyer it says, “LGBTQIA.” All those fucking letters which sanitise gay. Why didn’t they keep going with LMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ and then start over with ABC and add a few plus signs…? Then on another place on the same flyer it says, “TLGBQ+” So the T got moved to first place and the G for gay is hidden in the middle. Gay guys have been relegated to the back of the bus, so to speak. Or thrown under the bus, while big T for trans has taken over, even though trans (feeling one was born the wrong gender) has absolutely nothing to do with gay (same gender attraction).
No where on the flyer are the words gay or queer, which can imply that gays and queers are still in the closet and instead have to hide behind the increasingly long alphabet string with math signs at the end, all of which is code language, as if one is back in the 1950s.
And the alphabet is indeed code language — it’s a way of avoiding using the words gay or queer — and the alphabet sanitises the words gay or queer. Don’t these corporate trash understand that?
It would be so much easier to use one word — queer — rather than reciting and stumbling over all those fucking letters.
“By the time you get through all those letters, the parade is over.”—a quote from queer Comedian Lea DeLaria
Lea says: “I’m a dyke. Get it right.” She said she doesn’t use all those fucking letters. She uses the word queer.
One wonders if those responsible for this alphabet rubbish are afraid of saying or writing the words gay or queer? So instead, they use this code language. Is this done to cater to the “Don’t say gay” crowd who are offended by the words gay or queer? It’s always good to cater to bigots isn’t it? [sarcasm intended] Fuck them!
I know I’m being a bit redundant but I have to be, because there are so many thick/dense people out there who might read this.
What I’m about to say will piss off some people:
As for trans: The T should not even be part of any of this because trans has nothing to do with gay or same-gender attraction. Trans has to do with a person feeling they were born the wrong gender. I’ve never met or known any gay guy or lesbian who wanted to change their gender. None. Trans is not what same-gender attraction is about.
But unfortunately, trans hijacked on to the alphabet cult — which some people call “the gay community” — and trans have really taken it over and become the dominant group. These days it’s all about trans.
Trans has become such a controversial/hot topic politically in a negative way that it has certainly not benefited queers at all, specially gay guys, lesbians and bisexual people.
Some people say that trans should be part of the straight “community” because some trans people are in heterosexual relationships with kids.
UPDATE: After I wrote this article I found this insanity:
QTBIPOC: QTBIPOC stands for Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous People of Color. QTBIPOC are acknowledged to encompass some of the most marginalized members of the LGBTQ+.
LGBTIQCAPGNGFNBA+: is an extended, highly-inclusive acronym that represents a diverse range of sexual orientations, romantic orientations, and gender identities. It stands for:
-
- L – Lesbian (Editorial question: Why is the L always first when gay guys led the Gay and Lesbian Rights’ Movement? It should be GL…
- G – Gay
- B – Bisexual
- T – Transgender
- I – Intersex
- Q
– Queer / Questioning
- C – Curious
- A – Asexual
- P – Pansexual
- G – Gender-Nonconforming
- G – Gender-Fluid
- N – Non-Binary
- B – Bisexual (often represented as an additional “B” or sometimes Two-Spirit in similar long-form variations)
- A – Androgynous
- + – The plus sign encompasses all other identities, orientations, and variations that are not explicitly represented by the letters in the acronym.
These days, some lesbians are having sex with guys but still calling themselves a lesbian, rather than bisexual.
