This article is about the upcoming election in the United States of North America.
“Just Vote Blue down your entire ballot” even when the “Democrat” is really a Republican like former US senator Dianne Feinstein? To blindly go down a ballot and check off all the Democrats is really quite stupid. The same for checking off all the Republicans.
“Just Vote Blue down your entire ballot” is what some Democratic cultists are writing in comments on political websites. They still have illusions about a Democrat sending the schoolyard bully to prison. (roll eyes, sigh). Well, one can’t fix stupid, so don’t try. They expect the same Democrat to send that guy to prison who called that guy on the phone and told him they were glad that he was safe after an alleged assassination attempt on the bully? They really expect that Democrat to send the schoolyard bully to prison? In reality, the schoolyard bully will never see the inside of a prison, as a prisoner that is.
Anyone who is a Democrat is a good candidate? That’s the thinking of the cultists. Just because they have a D behind their name doesn’t make them a good person or a good politician. In fact, some Democrats are really Republicans charading as Democrats. I remember when the local gay rag endorsed a Democrat who was really a Republican. He authored the anti-homeless sit-lie law in San Francisco as well as the city-wide nudity ban. The gay rag endorsed it all and that’s when I stopped reading the garbage they were endorsing. They endorsed candidates based on their sexual orientation, not on their politics. I’d much rather have a straight politician who I agree with politically than a queer politician I don’t agree with politically. His sexual orientation should have nothing to do with it.
So the, “Just Vote Blue down your entire ballot” to get the schoolyard bully in prison is extremely simplistic thinking. It’s also the thinking of cultists. They vote the cult or the party and not intelligently for the candidate after carefully looking at the candidate’s record and background. They probably don’t have the attention span for that.
What has happened to the Democrats who once pretended to be “progressive?” I’ve asked this many times.
Anyone remember the time when gender-neutral language was in favour and used by the people who called themselves progressives?
Well, that all seems to have gone away from what I’ve been seeing.
The other day I saw the word “mankind” in a comment on a “progressive” site. It used to be humankind. It used to be server and not “waitress.” Someone used the word “steward” the other day instead of flight attendant. We’re going backwards very quickly.
I thought Democrats and “liberals” and “progressives” were opposed to sexist language such as “Congressmen.” Apparently not. There are women in the US House of Representatives. That’s what sparked this article was a Democrat talking about the impeachment proceedings of the schoolyard bully. Remember that? They said “vote all Congressmen out.” Congressmen? This is yet another person who doesn’t know that the politicians in the House of Representatives are referred to by the gender-neutral word Representative. That’s their official title. Their official title is not “Congressmen.” And who started this nonsense of referring to Representatives as “Congressmen?” Of course “Congressmen” includes all the women in the House of Representatives. Do women appreciate being called “men?” That was the original argument in favour of gender-neutral words decades ago. We’re going backwards. “Congressmen” also includes all the senators (a gender-neutral word as well) because the Senate is part of the Congress. It’s the upper body. Yes, I know that senators are never referred to as “Congressmen.” Why not, if one insists on using that word? In our fucked-up US system, only Representatives are “Congressmen.” Why is that? There is such a disconnect here. Again, why aren’t senators “Congressmen” when the Senate is part of the Congress? Doh. Yes I know I’m being repetitive because there are so many thick people out there, which is partially responsible for this situation. The thing is: No one should be using the word “Congressmen” (a gender-specific word: men) at all because their official title is Representative (a gender-neutral word). Then after the commenter wrote the sexist word “Congressmen,” no one corrected him, but rather wrote, “Vote out every senator that didn’t vote to impeach the schoolyard bully.” Well, the reality is that US senators serve a 6 year term so one can only vote out the ones who are up for re-election. Therefore one cannot “vote out every senator…”
There is so much ignorance about the political system in the US from people who live in the US and who are cultists for one cult or another, Republican or Democrat.
