15 November 2025: It may be premature for me to write a bit about National Public Radio, but these are my early observations about the network since I started listening to them again, to some degree.
Some history: Why did I stop listening to them years ago? Because they were becoming more and more corporate. They were “rah, rah” for every war the white house launched which is how they got the name “National Pentagon Radio.” I remember when Cokie Roberts was talking with Bob Edwards on Morning Edition. She was gushing over what an “attractive candidate George W Bush is.” That’s when they lost me.
Well, they’ve had all of their federal funding cut as of this writing, yet one would not know that from listening to them.
The political sites that tell it like it is refer to this maga white house and these maga cultists as a regime, which is what it is, with the dictator in the gaudy and tacky gold-saturated oval office. Then you have those sites who like to sugar-coat and cater to the establishment. Corporate npr gives this piece of trash in the white house respect and honour by continuing to refer to him as “president trump” and also using his full name. I have never called him that and never will. This gutter trash deserves no respect or honour in the minds of many of us. He is the scum of the Earth. I’m not hot on Nancy Pelosi, but she recently called the dictator, “a “vile creature” and the “worst thing on the face of the Earth”.
National Public Radio also refers to this regime as “an administration.” That’s corporate mainstream. I told a friend of mine this and he said, “I would expect that from them.” The establishment and corporatists amongst us continue to use the word “administration” rather than regime. Is National Public Radio catering to their funders (listen to their funding credits) and/or are they afraid that the dictator will shut them down entirely?
National Public Radio also seems to think there will be midterm elections and for some reason they think any midterms will be legitimate. What world are they living in there in the District of Columbia with the current regime and dictator in power?
And finally, I fail to understand why National Public Radio — that’s their legal name — refuses to use their legal name on the network as they used to do when I was a regular listener. Ann Taylor began each newscast during ATC with “From National Public Radio News in Washington, I’m Ann Taylor.” I read last month that those at the network decided to make a deliberate effort to only say “npr” on the air. What a stupid decision that was, and why? Why would they do that? So new listeners who have never heard of npr, well, I guess, they have to go online and ask AI, “what is npr?” And AI will tell them. Or did they decide to say only npr on air to be corporate and like the other 3-letter corporate networks?
Interestingly, since they’re not big on their names, you would think that they might say, “You’re listening to ATC” rather than “You’re listening to All Things Considered.” The same for Morning Edition and other programmes. Apparently they think that the name of the programme is important but not the legal name of their network, which is National Public Radio. That’s why they never say it. It’s always “this is npr.”
Back to the authoritarian dictator leaving, who builds a gaudy and tacky ballroom — the size of two football fields — and then leaves? That tells some of us that this piece of trash has no plans to leave. And there’s all this talk about his third term (with the help of the six fascist trash on the Supreme Court)?
I guess that all those who hang around the white house will get cancer from the asbestos exposures during the complete demotion of the East Wing.
And finally, to people at microphones: stop playing what this fascist in the white house says. “Play the clip” says one person after the other on their programme. I click off. I do not listen to what this bumbling fascistic idiot says, ever. Instead, tell your audience in your own words what he said. Do not play him. You’re promoting him by playing him. Can’t you understand that? I refuse to listen to stupid.
Update: 21 November 2025: I’ve been listening more to ATC, and the people at the microphones sound young or relatively young and one can hear the pop culture — “Valley Gurl” — word “like” fairly often and uptalking (that’s where one makes a statement sound like a question) from some people at the mics. So I would say it’s a young network compared to when I was listening regularly. Their bumper music is still excellent as it used to be. Not much has changed in the quality of the programming from when I was listening. I’d say the quality has remained the same which is to their credit, and of course they have their bureau in Culver City which they say on the air, “From npr news in Culver City…” They’re in the former Desilu studios.
