There’s only one world that we all live on, so…

How can some ignorant, conservative or so-called “progressive” people refer to a “Third World?” Where is this “Third World” that people parked at microphones are referring to?

A friend of mine said he’s heard Juan González of the “progressive” programme Democracy Now! use the term “Third World.” That’s not what I would expect a Latino/Hispano to say or a so-called “progressive” use. Well, he and Amy Goodman are rather selective in what language they choose to remember to use. Amy can remember that silly “Latinx” nonsense but she can’t seem to remember that District of Columbia is the official name for the US nation’s capital (and not “Washington DC.”) Or that the official title for the members of the House of Representatives is Representative and not “Congressman/woman.”) Why not call Senators “Congressman” since they too are in the Congress if one insists on using the non-official term “Congressman?”

As for the archaic and outdated term, “Third World,” one might want to read these articles from National Public Radio/npr:

Memo To People Of Earth: ‘Third World’ Is An Offensive Term!

If You Shouldn’t Call It The Third World, What Should You Call It?
